Though you’re dead and gone, Bob Bryar, your memory will carry on.

My Chemical Romance is mourning the loss of their former drummer, who passed away at age 44. A week after Bryar was found dead in his home, the alternative rock band took to Instagram to pay their tribute.

“It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Bob Bryar, our former bandmate and an important part of the history of My Chemical Romance,” the band wrote alongside a picture of Bryar in action behind the drums.

“We send our deepest condolences to his friends and family at this time. May he rest in peace,” the message concluded.

Bryar was found dead at his Tennessee home on November 26, as reported by TMZ, who noted the musician had last been seen alive since November 4. An investigation into the cause and manner of his death is still ongoing.

Bryar joined MCR in 2004 while he was still working as a sound engineer for The Used. He replaced original drummer Matt Pelissier and played on their iconic album The Black Parade. Bryar departed the group in 2010.

The true reason behind his departure was never disclosed. However, rhythm guitarist Frank Iero wished him the best in an MCR blogpost: “This was a painful decision for all of us to make and was not taken lightly. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours, and expect you all to do the same.”
