Piers Morgan breaks silence as Sarah Ferguson defends Prince Andrew

Outspoken TV presenter Piers Morgan has finally broken his silence on Sarah Ferguson’s reaction to ongoing controversy about her ex-husband Prince Andrew.

The 59-year-old former Good Morning Britain (GMB) co-host abruptly stepped in to support Ferguson, popularly known as Fergie, who has vowed to not let the Duke of York down despite the court hearing over Andrew’s alleged connection to a spy looms.

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie’s mom has been defended by the journalist after Ferguson vowed to stand by scandal-hit Prince, who has come under fire for his “relationship” with a Chinese businessman known simply as “H6”.

In reactions to the serious claims, the Duchess of York, who still lives with Andrew at Royal Lodge on the Windsor Castle estate, said: “I won’t let him down. He supports me as much as I support him. He’s supported me through thick and thin, not just marriage or divorce.”

In a new interview with The Sunday Times, the Duchess said: “I was totally and utterly in love with Andrew. I would do it all over again, 100 per cent. He’s the best, a great man with a great heart, and kind. Our wedding was the best day of my life. But I gave up my anonymity that day. I was able to because love conquers all. It’s still with us today.”

Morgan, who has been vocal critic of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle since they cut ties with the royal family and relocated to the US in 2020, instantly leapt to Sarah’s defence, saying: “I love people who are steadfastly loyal to those in real difficulty and the subject of public opprobrium. Very easy to be someone’s supportive mate when they\re riding high, much more impressive when they’re on the rack.”

Andrew and Sarah tied the knot in a lavish ceremony held at Westminster Abbey in July 1986. Six years after their huge wedding, the couple announced they were planning to separate from one another. But in 1996, through Buckingham Palace, they announced they were intending to divorce. Upon their divorce, Sarah lost her Her Royal Highness status and was no longer classed as a Princess.

Despite their tumultuous relationship, Andrew and Ferguson have remained extremely close and often accompany one another to official events, most notably, Christmas 2023 when they joined King Charles and Queen Camilla at Sandringham.
